Camborne Science & International Academy is a friendly, dynamic and innovative school in the heart of beautiful West Cornwall. We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified colleague who will bring vision and fresh ideas to lead our highly regarded and successful Science Faculty. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of effective leadership, exemplary classroom practice as well as an ability to challenge individuals within their team whilst supporting them to achieve outstanding results.
You will have a unique opportunity to strategically lead Science over two separate campuses, responsible for the direction and development of the science curriculum at both our main campus and at CSIA’s satellite Nexus campus. NEXUS is CSIAs Centre of Excellence for STEM and Liberal Arts (NLA) for 11-16 learners. At Post 16, students from all over the county can study at Cornwall School of Mathematics and Science (CSMS), which is part of our VI Form provision. The aim is to develop young learners who are able to pick and choose from the best courses at the very best universities worldwide; young people who have a wealth of research experience from working with some of the best academics in their field of interest.
Science is a high achieving and dynamic faculty. At A level, results are outstanding and students make excellent progress. CSMS students achieve over 60% A* - A. The VI Form Academy offers Biology, Chemistry, Human Biology and Psychology and results are amongst the best in the country; as a consequence 25% of our intake at Post 16 is from schools outside of the catchment area. Our school has developed exceptional International Science and Mathematics links with top schools in Japan, Singapore, Thailand, China and South Korea. Recent collaboration has involved joint research projects, International Science and Mathematics fairs and competitions, as well as many significant student/staff visits and exchanges. The successful appointees will be encouraged to participate in this amazing and unique programme.
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to lead the Science Faculty to further successes but also provides significant opportunity for self-development and further promotion. The person appointed will be given full support in their career development as we believe that development of staff is a key aspect in raising standards for our students.
