What skills and experience we're looking for

John Smeaton Academy are seeking to recruit an a passionate, dynamic and inspirationalDirector of Science who will become part of an organisation that seeks to prioritise students’ holistic development. The successful candidate will be expected to provide strong leadership that results in a Science Department that provides first class teaching and learning opportunities for both students and staff.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • A successful record of teaching with very good exam results at one or more of KS4 or KS5
  • A detailed knowledge of current developments in education including the use of the Pupil Premium.
  • An ability to set a vision for Science at John Smeaton Academy and lead a team successfully.

About us:

John Smeaton Academy was the subject of a divestment order from the Secretary of State and became a part of The GORSE Academies Trust on 1 September 2021. Since this date the academy has undergone a significant transformation that sees it rising in popularity within the local community. As we approach the start of our third year within The GORSE Academies Trust, we want to further strengthen the incredible progress that has been made since September 2021 and continue to raise the standard that has transformed the academy thus far.
