Director of Science job summary
Main purpose
The Director of Science, under the direction of the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher, will take a role in:
1. Formulating the aims and objectives of the school and the curriculum area
2. Establishing policies for achieving these aims and objectives
3. Managing staff and resources to achieve points 1 and 2 above
4. Monitoring progress towards the achievement of the school’s aims and objectives and those of the curriculum area
The Director of Science will also have an appropriate programme of teaching in accordance with the duties of a MPR/UPR teacher (ref: Job Description – Teacher), complying with the Teachers’ Standards and modelling best practice for others.
The Director of Science may also be required to undertake any of the duties delegated by the Headteacher.
