What skills and experience we're looking for

This an exciting opportunity for an excellent leader with a passion for education and its continued improvement. The role will work locally and regionally with a remit to influence and shape education nationally. Knowledge of Norfolk and the Norwich area would be helpful.

Following growth in the number of special schools in the Trust, we are looking for a Director of Education to join the Executive Director of Education (SEND) and another Director of Education (SEND) to lead special school improvement across the 5 special schools (with a further 2 schools to open in the next few years), as well as providing supporting, advice and guidance to our mainstream schools and specialist provision hubs.

We are inviting candidates with extensive SEND educational leadership experience and a knowledge and understanding of creating and maintaining outstanding special school practice to apply for the role. You will have a background as a Special School Headteacher and are likely to have been in a leadership role in an existing Multi Academy Trust. The role will take a key part in setting the strategy for the Trust and its daily operations, working very closely with the CEO and executive colleagues.

What the school offers its staff

This is an opportunity to help shape the future of special education and strive for excellence at a time when the landscape is changing dramatically and when the special schools are pushing forward with developing a shared curriculum driven through the principals of CUSP. An innovative and creative approach is key as well as the ability to influence and build relationships. The Trust is looking for a candidate to match the ambition they have and create a culture of collaboration to achieve it.

Unity Schools Partnership is a Multi Academy Trust 39 schools with approval to open two further special schools and two primary schools in the near future. The ambition of Unity Schools Partnership is to achieve a step change in the quality of education provided by primary, secondary and special schools and that its schools are achieving top quartile performance by 2026. The trust expects its work to be characterised by ethical leadership, an ambition for improvement at pace and the expectation that remarkable change can happen.

Commitment to safeguarding

Unity Schools Partnership is committed to safer recruitment, equal opportunities, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.
