Director of Sixth Form/Assistant Headteacher job summary

Are you keen to lead a large School Sixth Form with energy, vision and commitment?

We have a culture of high expectations and we are looking for a talented and committed individual keen to develop their leadership skills at this exciting time in our journey. After years of involvement in our Post 16 provision the current Head of Sixth Form is retiring from the post and this creates a rare opportunity for the right person. Leadership roles as diverse, dynamic and rewarding as this don’t come along very often! Taking the lead in all aspects of our Post 16 provision, developing a coherent joint LLT vision for the Sixth Form as we look to the future, and leading colleagues through the next iterations of post 16 education promises to be an exciting challenge.

Most importantly we are looking for someone with real leadership potential, an ability to work hard as part of a team, a clear educational vision and a skill set that will enable them to flourish. You would be joining a collaborative and committed Leadership Team who share the wonderful responsibility of keeping to the highest standards all aspects of our vibrant and energetic community.

Applications are welcomed from well-qualified and highly motivated individuals who are keen to work with remarkable young people providing an exceptional education for all.

Bordering the Lakes and the Dales and yet surprisingly well connected, for over 400 years we have forged a strong community ethos providing ‘Scholarship and Care’. We’re immensely proud of our commitment to the highest quality teaching and learning coupled with extraordinary pastoral care. We are a truly comprehensive school in which every child is cared for, supported and stretched, moving on to diverse destinations, from local apprenticeships and college courses to highly selective universities.

Building on our long successful history, we launched our sister school in September 2017 creating a small multi-academy trust of our 2 schools, the Lunesdale Learning Trust. Within this expanding context we can offer ample opportunities for professional development enabling you to fulfil your potential in our high performing, forward thinking community.
