What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to recruit a Director of Teaching and Learning who will be predominately responsible for the quality of pedagogical leadership and classroom practice across the trust. As an experienced and inspiring leader, the Director of Teaching and Learning will play a critical role in continuing to build the Trust in its next phase of development. The role is diverse and you will required to undertake a range of activities including coaching, planning, delivering training, tracking teacher and leadership development, assisting with teacher recruitment and retention, modelling strong practice, assisting with data analysis and working with leaders and teachers at all levels to ensure that classroom practice is consistently strong.

You will also have a role in shaping the direction of Trust wide literacy development, including reading, writing and oracy. This role will be crucial in ensuring that school departments are working collaboratively and making the most of being in one trust. We are looking for someone who still very much enjoys teaching and being in the classroom, since this is where you will be spending the majority of your time; modelling to staff and live coaching are a fundamental aspect of this role, as is training others to do the same.


The successful candidate will:

  • Have a relentless focus on ensuring that our students receive the very best experience in teaching and learning in every classroom, so that each one of them can achieve the outcomes their potential predicts is possible.
  • Lead at a senior level to enhance the work of Headteachers in raising outcomes through improvements to the quality of teaching and learning.
  • Have the drive and determination to successfully collaborate in creating a culture of high expectations that raise standards
  • Work closely with the Headteachers and be a member of the Trust Senior Leadership team.
