District Lead Swale Specialist Teaching and Learning Service
Meadowfield School is looking for an experienced, dynamic and innovative leader for the Swale Specialist Teaching and Learning Service with a proven track record of:
Leading a team of Specialist Teachers
Supporting inclusion
Developing positive relationships with a range of schools
Supporting integrated working practices
Lead MIDAS, a highly regarded training and development centre
The successful candidate will work within the Swale District to meet the key aims of the role:
Raise standards of high-quality inclusive teaching in mainstream classrooms that enables children and young people with SEND who attend mainstream early years settings and schools to remain in these settings with access to quality first teaching
Develop the targeted and specialist knowledge, skills and expertise in Kent early years settings and mainstream schools using specialist SEN support services to create a coordinated, equitable and effective provision of additional support for children and young people with special additional needs
Swale STLS serves 131 settings, 56 schools and 75 early years settings. The successful candidate will provide advice and support as part of Kent County Council’s co-ordinated strategy for SEN support.
This is an exciting time to take on this role, as the successful candidate will lead on the work outlined in a new service level agreement. This will require creativity and resilience as we strive to maintain exceptionally high standards in a time where the demands for support are ever increasing and new, innovative approaches need to be developed. We require a leader who can see possibilities for new ways of working and who will take forward the work of a highly experienced, dedicated and qualified team.

We serve pupils with profound, severe and complex needs, including autism. The school is comprised of: - Early Years - which includes our Observation and Assessment Nursery called Honey Bees and Reception classes, - IMPACTS classes - for pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, - Extended IMPACTS classes - for pupils who benefit from a more individual-led curriculum, - Subject Led classes - for pupils who benefit from a more academic curriculum - 6th Form - preparing pupils for their next steps
We currently serve pupils from the ages of three to nineteen, and pupil numbers are set to increase rapidly over the next year and beyond as we add more classes.

The Meadowfield Inclusion Development and Support (MIDAS) Centre is our highly regarded inclusion and outreach service which successfully supports 56 schools and 75 early years settings across Swale, increasing capacity to meet the needs of pupils with additional needs.
Across the school we have approximately 270 members of staff ranging from class based support staff, teachers, the Inclusion Team, Office and Admin Staff, Site Staff, ICT Department as well as our Leadership and Management Team.
