Job summary

We are seeking to appoint an innovative and visionary teacher to lead our new provision for ten children with communication difficulties including autism. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high quality lessons and leading dedicated and successful teams.

The ideal candidate will:
• Have significant experience of working with children with communication difficulties including autism
• Have the ability to lead and inspire others
• Show innovation in planning and delivery
• Be able to manage a small dedicated team
• Be able to support mainstream colleagues in support children from the DSP
• Show enthusiasm and passion to lead and design the future of the provision
• Have a commitment to enhance their own and the CPD of others

Essential educational requirements

Experience in the role of working with or leading on work with children with SEND
Experience of teaching in the FS and Key Stage 1
Have good knowledge of current educational issues including national policies, priorities and legislation relating to SEN/Inclusion/Safeguarding

Qualified Teacher Status
Relevant courses
To have leadership experience in infant/primary school

Essential skills and experience

Under the direction of the Governors and the Head, to be responsible for the development, implementation, review and evaluation of the school’s policy for pupils on the SEND register in partnership with the SENCo
To be responsible for building the capacity and confidence of mainstream staff to include DSP pupils successfully through effective communication with staff and a repertoire of strategies including modelling exemplary practice, providing advice and staff training
To be proactive in developing and maintaining good liaison with parents and carers and all relevant external agencies and network groups
To work with other relevant staff to ensure compliance with statutory SEN regulations and DDA legislation
Have leadership and management experience
Have the skills to coordinate provision for children with Special Educational Needs
Have a good knowledge and understand of assessment strategies
