EAL Coordinator job summary
Liaise with Y7 Transition Lead to ascertain which students will require EAL support.
Identify and assess students’ language development needs; planning, teaching and monitoring support where required.
Identify and keep records of learners receiving EAL support, monitoring their progress in English and working with colleagues to track their curriculum attainment.
Develop action plans for students who require EAL support.
Support staff to develop their understanding and use of EAL pedagogy.
Support teachers in evaluating students’ progress through a range of assessment activities, assessing students’ responses to learning tasks and where necessary, modifying methods to meet individual and/or group student needs.
To provide in class support to identified students in small groups or on a 1:1 basis.
Develop methods of promoting and reinforcing students’ esteem and independence within the classroom environment and where appropriate, working with parents/carers to support their role in their children’s learning.
Support the transition and transfer of EAL students within the provision.
