EAL Higher Learning Teaching Assistant job summary
We are seeking a proactive, knowledgeable, and caring professional with excellent communication skills to join our thriving EAL Department, someone with experience supporting students with English as an additional language and a genuine passion for helping EAL learners develop confidence across listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
We provide tailored support, foster confidence and cross-cultural understanding, and work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, students, and families. Using technology and ongoing reflection, we continually refine our approach to meet the needs of a busy school environment.
The ideal candidate will bring creativity and patience to making learning accessible and engaging, while also contributing to Functional Skills delivery, KS3 provision, and targeted interventions. Collaboration will be key—working closely with teachers, assistants, families, and students to ensure joined-up support that inspires progress and achievement across all abilities.
As part of Seven Kings Teaching School Alliance, Wanstead is able to provide a wide variety of CPD opportunities for staff at all stages of their career, both within Wanstead and the Teaching School Alliance. The post offers an excellent opportunity for the right person to develop their career within an exciting and supportive department and school.
