Early Career Teacher job summary
Early Career Teacher for SEN pupils in our secondary phase
Crowdys Hill School is a dynamic and expanding special school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and complex needs. We have over 320 pupils on roll, ranging from 4-19 years of age. All of our pupils have moderate to severe learning difficulties with social communication difficulties. Some have autism, ADHD or other more complex needs.
You will be covering a timetable where pupils are working at around 4 years below ARE. Subjects you will be expected to teach are: English, Maths, Science and Project work including Humanities; and other NC subjects.
Our school takes a very person-centred approach to each of our pupils’ learning to maximise their independence and realise their aspirations.
We welcome applications from teachers who have successfully passed their initial teacher training and are ready to embark on an Early Career Teacher Framework.
The school fully supports ECT training. We are linked with Swindon and Wiltshire teaching hub, and use Ambition Institute for delivery of the ECF. We have a good support network with individual mentors and experienced induction lead. We offer protected non-contact time, good level of support for pedagogical skills development and special educational needs support. We commit to extend the contract until the ECT has completed their course if they are set to do so. We have successfully supported ECTs for the past 3 years to complete their courses. You are welcome to chat to our current ECTs in confidence.
Additional support and training will be provided for outstanding candidates wishing to further their specialist knowledge and understanding. We support all staff in understanding and managing the special needs of our pupils, and give all team members an invaluable insight and appreciation of the rewards to be gained from working in a school such as ours. Our emphasis for staff is on having a flexible and positive attitude towards ensuring our pupils get the best opportunities in their education.
