What skills and experience we're looking for

Working alongside strategic leads, you will be responsible for planning and leading the delivery of learning to challenging young people with behavioural, social and emotional difficulties who need support with behaviour regulation. This is a unique opportunity to be innovative in creating early intervention pathways that meets the needs of children and young people in Oxfordshire. You will work in partnership with the local authority, schools and community organisations to provide an opportunity for young people to enhance their access to learning and life chances.

The work will involve a mixture of group teaching, casework and transition support. Experience of working with children/young people and parents/carers and of planning and delivering learning is essential, as is the ability to prioritise and work to agreed targets. You will also have a proven track record of engaging and supporting children and young people.

In this role you will also be expected to lead and supervise other staff and to contribute to their continued professional development.

The successful candidate will be fully committed to a solution-focussed approach and have the flexibility and resilience necessary to promote a positive learning experience in a challenging environment. You will be someone who can engage challenging young people, provide a stimulating learning environment and make learning fun.

What the school offers its staff

  • Meadowbrook College staff are both professional and resilient. There is a “can do” attitude that makes a real difference to the lives of our students; many of whom have become disengaged with education and lost the confidence to achieve their full potential

  • We offer a variety of opportunities for ongoing professional development for all staff - We are working in an ever-changing and expanding educational climate where the need for alternative provision solutions is increasing. Our provision is always adapting and new opportunities are always evolving.

Commitment to safeguarding

Meadowbrook College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff and volunteers are also expected to promote fundamental British values. This post involves the type of work with children and young people that require applicants to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post. All cases are considered confidentially and according to the nature of the role and information disclosed. On-line searches are carried out on those shortlisted
