Early Years and Early Reading Lead - 0.8 job summary

As part of the school’s Senior Leadership Team, you will:

  • Lead on the development and implementation of outstanding Early Years and Early Reading strategies

  • Champion high-quality teaching and learning across EYFS and Key Stage 1 transition

  • Support, coach and inspire colleagues to deliver exceptional classroom practice

  • Lead on Early Communication, Continuous Provision, Outdoor Learning, and the Early Reading Strategy (including Read, Write Inc)

  • Foster strong partnerships with parents, carers, and the wider community

  • Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, supporting the wellbeing and safety of our children

This is a key leadership role where your influence will shape the learning experiences and outcomes for our youngest pupils.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an outstanding Early Years practitioner with proven impact on children’s learning and progress

  • Has a strong understanding of the EYFS framework, early reading development, and phonics pedagogy

  • Demonstrates a passion for coaching and developing others, leading with empathy and professionalism

  • Is able to translate strategic vision into effective practice

  • Is committed to inclusive, nurturing and creative learning experiences

  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills, and thrives as part of a collaborative leadership team
