Early Years Assistant Level 1 job summary

The successful applicant will work as part of a team within the nursery and will undertake a range of tasks such as:
- Provide support in the classroom and interact with children, sharing stories or other support duties as specified by senior members of staff
- Provide learning support to individual children
- Assist in classroom preparations
- Help maintain the cleanliness of the classroom environment
- Assist in the supervision of children during the work day, on/off site
- Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil's behaviour and progress

We require:
- Experience of working with children aged 2-5
- Ability to communicate effectively to children and adults
- Basic literacy and numeracy to support learning needs
- To work as part of a team
- Support children in all areas of personal development
- Recognise forms of discrimination and demonstrate awareness of Child Protection issues
- Willing to undertake extra training and development
- Maths & English Grades C/4 or above or equivalent
- Minimum NVQ Level 2 in childcare or working towards qualification
We believe it's a privilege to work in a Resourced Maintained Nursery School and a unique opportunity. The school is a part of a federation of maintained nursery schools who work closely together and are very well supported by the local authority. This ensures support guidance, high quality training, networking and opportunities for professional development.
Hours of work will be 8.30am - 3.30pm Monday to Friday. Wednesday evenings will be required at times for training sessions and supporting the team.
