Early Years Foundation Practitioner job summary
§ Support pupil wellbeing, and help pupils acquire skills to support their own wellbeing including:
o Providing comfort and support for pupils in distress and/or conflict, in accordance with our policies on behaviour management;
o Administering First Aid in accordance with academy policy and ensuring classroom medical supplies are replenished;
o Supervising and assisting with cloakroom duties;
o Organising food and drinks for children’s snacks;
o Recording accidents and incidents
§ Ensure the general tidiness and order of the classrooms and associated areas including:
o Cleaning and replacing equipment after use;
o Regularly checking, replenishing and tidying materials/tools, for example, replenishing paper stocks, sharpening pencils etc.
o Maintaining and making minor repairs to equipment & resources;
o Purchasing materials and resources using school funds, as directed by the Class Teacher;
o Creating displays to support learning or showcase children’s work;
§ Undertake break and lunch duties as necessary.
§ Observe children and document findings to inform planning and assessment, as well as to identify particular needs and difficulties and discuss these with the teacher.
§ Contribute towards any formal or informal process of the educational assessment of pupils.
§ Prepare pupil’s records in accordance with academy policy and support the Class Teacher with liaising with parents/ carers, senior staff or external agencies as required.
§ To promote the philosophy and approach of the academy.
§ To develop and maintain good relationships and communication with parents/carers to foster parental involvement, support pupils and parents, and encourage a positive partnership.
§ To attend staff, team, parent and whole academy meetings as required.
