Rugby Free Primary School is a 4-11 school which opened in September 2015 with three Reception classes in a newly refurbished building in Central Park. We are part of the Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow Multi Academy Trust. We welcome children of all abilities and from all backgrounds. We are non-selective, non-denominational and are free for all to attend. We provide a high quality, local school with an exciting and broad curriculum.
We are now in our 7th year of operation and for the first time, have a school which is full from Reception to Year 6. We have 420 pupils on roll and our school is a happy and thriving place to be.
This is a Senior Leadership position and you will be on the extended Senior Leadership team with other phase leaders. You will be an experienced EYFS teacher and have an excellent knowledge of how children learn at this stage of development and the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Our Reception base is one large, open plan classroom for 60 children and it is essential that you are able to create a supportive, team atmosphere. As a leader you will have PPA time and a further 10% out of class to fulfil this role. Additional leadership time can be given as and when is necessary. We are very fortunate to have 3 teachers for 60 pupils in Reception.
The successful candidate will be supported by a senior leadership team who have the highest ambitions for the school, its children and its staff. We will support the successful candidate in their professional development and progression will be fully supported and nurtured.
We have 19 classes and therefore have lots of opportunities for movement within school and different leadership opportunities. We encourage candidates to state their individual interests in their application noting areas of the curriculum they would be interested in leading.

Rugby Free Primary is a 4 – 11 school serving pupils from the local community. The school opened in 2015 with just 42 pupils in Reception and will reach its full capacity with 420 pupils from Years R – 6 in September 2021.
The school is part of the Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow (LT2) Trust. Our sister school in the Trust is Rugby Free Secondary School which is located on the other side of Rugby to us. The Trust and our Local Governing Body provide us with the support and challenge to grow and develop.
RFPS was set up as a free school by LT2 and is an academy. This means we are free from local authority control and are financed directly by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). However, we work very closely with Warwickshire Local Authority to ensure that our pupils and their families are fully supported. We are a non-selective and non-denomination school and welcome pupils of all genders, religions, faiths and backgrounds. As an academy, we don’t have to but we choose to follow the National Curriculum. We have Ofsted inspections and statutory assessments like all other state schools and are governed by the same laws e.g. admissions, SEND etc
We work closely with other schools in the local area and are part of the Hillmorton Teaching School Alliance. We also liaise closely with local nurseries and secondary schools to ensure effective transition for our pupils.
