Early Years Phase Leader job summary
At Farnborough Grange, we are extremely passionate about providing our children with the best possible start to their education by providing them with all the tools they will need to achieve their full potential. As a Nursery and Infant School, we have the privilege of helping to shape our children’s view of education at the very beginning of their school career. We’re on a journey of school improvement, led by a really passionate SLT. We value both working hard and playing hard and are looking for the right fit for our team, where passion, enthusiasm and a good sense of humour are valued as much as experience.
If you are passionate about Early Years, enjoy responsibility and place children at the heart of everything you do, then this could be an extremely exciting opportunity for you.
We are looking for a motivated and inspirational leader to join our staff team and to lead our Early Years Department – consisting of a large Nursery and two Reception classes. The successful candidate will have a Nursery class responsibility 4 days a week.
We have also advertised this job as a Nursery Teacher without leadership responsibility as we are keen to get the right person.
We reserve the right to interview upon application and recruit before closing date.
We are looking for someone who:
- Will be an exemplar of consistent good practice as a Class Teacher, who consistently demonstrates all aspects of the Teacher Standards to a high standard.
- Will be an effective Subject Leader, developing policy and leading the work of colleagues in your subject area to promote effective learning for all pupils.
- Is able to coordinate the day-to-day management of the EYFS Team and be responsible for communication within the team.
- Will coordinate opportunities for working collaboratively across the EYFS Team, for example, to support learning during themed weeks/days.
- Will maintain a regular overview of the progress children in your team are making, ensuring all children are being supported and challenged appropriately
- Will lead a staff team – training, supporting and coaching staff and appraising performance
- Will be an effective member of the MLT, assisting the Headteacher in implementing positive changes for the benefit of the whole school and have the ability to deputise in their absence.
What we offer in return:
- Wonderful children who are just beginning their educational journey, who have enquiring minds and a developing love of learning
- A supportive community, including the staff team who thrive on challenge and all have the children’s best interests at heart
- Excellent CPD opportunities at both school level and on a wider Trust Level.
- A supportive Multi-Academy Trust and Local Governing Committee who are all invested in the development of the school and the welfare of the children and the staff

On behalf of the Trust, local governing committee and staff team, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to Farnborough Grange Nursery / Infant School, where we are committed to giving children the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to succeed in later life.
We are a Church of England affiliated academy based in North Hampshire, part of The Good Shepherd Trust family, for children from 4 to 7 years old.. We also have a nursery which welcomes children from 2 years old.
At the heart of everything that we do are the children. The years they spend with us are an extremely precious time of enormous growth and change. We seek to make every opportunity a learning experience and harness the value out of every moment of every day. You will see from much of the content of this website, how central the children are and what fantastic ambassadors they are for the younger generation. As a school community, we are proud to provide a happy, positive environment where the children have the aspiration and self-belief to achieve their goals, whatever they may be.
Although learning is our core purpose, so is friendship, challenge, exploration and collaboration. It is our role to ensure that every child who passes through our school, has the nursery and infant school experience that they richly deserve.
We know that every child has the capacity for success and we have tailored our enquiry-based curriculum to enable our children to learn about the world around them, trying a wide variety of experiences and discovering and succeeding in their own talents and passions.
This website aims to give you a taste of the school, as well as providing regularly updated information for both pupils and parents. You can view our virtual school tour here.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website and that you get a taste of our whole-school ethos. If you would like to see the school in session, or if you have any queries, please contact the school office.
Thank you for visiting!
