What skills and experience we're looking for
QUALIFICATIONS AND
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Qualified to a minimum of NVQ level 2 in childcare with a willingness to work towards NVQ level 3 if not already gained
- Paediatric First Aid qualification
- Basic food hygiene qualification
- Child protection/safeguarding training (if not already in place, training will be provided when in post)
- An awareness of supporting the needs of vulnerable children and those with SEN
Desirable
- NVQ level 3 in childcare or be working towards this qualification
- Experience of observation / monitoring of children
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Essential
- Knowledge of EYFS curriculum and other national standards/codes of practice
- Willingness to extend knowledge of best practice in Early Years care and education
- Ability to communicate positively with children and carers
- Ability to offer a positive, committed and flexible approach to working within a childcare environment
- Awareness, at all times, of health & safety requirements in the nursery

Ibstock Community College has 570 students on roll and is at the heart of the local community, serving families in Ibstock and the surrounding villages of North-West Leicestershire. We are at an exciting stage in our development with plans to expand from a Key Stage 3 (11-14) school to welcoming students from 11-16 from autumn 2022. We also anticipate exciting future developments and opportunities when we join LiFE Multi Academy Trust later this academic year.
