Early Years Practitioner - Level 5 job summary

The St Bart's Multi Academy Trust, in partnership with Governors, staff and children of Saint Nathaniel's Academy are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our hard working and committed team. This post is based on 35 hours per week.

At Saint Nathaniel's Academy our children come first. High expectations, mutual trust and respect are underpinned by a warm, supportive ethos. The successful candidate will be working alongside a team of caring, enthusiastic, dedicated staff, who are well-supported by their Senior Leadership Team.

Job Purpose

To work with children, as part of a professional team, on education and social development and to provide ahigh quality of care.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

  1. Work with individuals or small groups of children, under direction
  2. Support behaviour management and development
  3. Establish and build positive relationships with parents / carers
  4. Contribute to the planning and development of learning activities
  5. Contribute to the development of individual development plans (such as Individual educational plans)for children with special educational needs
  6. Work with external agencies
  7. Contribute to observation and assessment procedures
  8. Update children’s records
  9. Set up and clear away displays and activities, including ensuring that the materials and equipmentare safe and clean
  10. Attend to children’s personal needs
  11. Have key worker responsibilities for particular children
  12. Demonstrate duties to apprentices and /or mentor new staff
  13. Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within theacademy, raising any concerns following academy protocol/procedures
  14. Undertake accompanied home visits.
