What skills and experience we're looking for

From January 2025 Wilburton Church of England Primary School is expanding its Early Years provision, offering term-time places to rising four year olds (children who turn 4 between September 2024 and August 2025) The pre-school will operate during school hours: 8:45-3:15 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and a shorter day on a Wednesday of 8:45-1pm.

Due to this expansion we are looking to appoint an inspiring and highly driven Early Years Practitioner to start in January 2025. You will need to be experienced at working with young children and will have a passion for this stage of learning.

Purpose of Post

1. To implement the lunchtime routine of our Early Years Foundation Stage children.

2. To ensure the school aims of creating high-quality adult child interactions and an oracy rich environment are fostered

3. To meet the needs of individual children from different cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.

Person Specification

1. Have a Level 2 Early Years Qualification

2. Be able to work with children, ensuring progression and where appropriate record keeping

2. Teamwork.

3. Effective communicator, including liaising with EYFS Lead, EYFS Staff and parents/carers.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Facilitate a nurturing, supportive and welcoming lunchtime environment, including preparing lunch area, supporting children with preparing for lunch, eating and using cutlery

2. Support and observe children, liaise with the EY Lead to make reasonable adjustments to ensure children succeed and effectively track progress.

3. Work with parents/carers of all children including those with additional needs ensuring full integration in the Setting; inclusive practice.

4. Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.

5. To be involved in out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, fundraising events

6. To be flexible within working practices of the Setting.

7. Work alongside the EYFS lead and team to ensure that the ethos and value of the School are fulfilled.

8. Recording accidents /incidents in the correct manner: in line with school practice.

9. To respect the confidentiality of information received.

10. To develop your role within the team.

11. To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring policies and procedures are observed at all times.
