What skills and experience we're looking for

This role requires the successful completion of a paid Health induction training programme and ongoing guidance to ensure competency in managing the health needs of a child e.g. tracheotomy and tube feeding.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience of supporting children with complex medical needs.
  • Have a working knowledge of medical procedures in supporting individuals with complex needs and be willing to complete medical training, including theory and up to at least 4 weeks of practical training.
  • Be an enthusiastic and dynamic individual, preferably with experience of working with children with additional medical needs.
  • Ideally, have experience in using Makaton and communication systems.
  • Have evidence of establishing and maintaining positive relationships when supporting an individual or groups in different settings that encourages pupils to progress.
  • Have a flexible, reliable and enthusiastic approach.
  • Be committed to developing effective working relationships with children, parents, staff and other professionals, to enable the very best support for children’s learning and development, whilst promoting excellent behaviour and high standards.
