Education Welfare Officer (Attendance) job summary

Start: ASAP

Location: Kettering Science Academy

Hours: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Salary: FTE £31,250-£33,250 (actual £26,844-£28,563)

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Education Welfare Officer (Attendance) to join our passionate and hard-working inclusion team at Kettering Science Academy. You will play a vital role in ensuring students attend regularly, supporting those who face barriers to school attendance, and working with families to address any underlying issues.

Your key responsibilities will include ensuring the school's effective implementation of the Working Together To Improve School Attendance framework through monitoring attendance, conducting home visits, liaising with parents and carers, and working closely with school staff to develop strategies that maximise a child's attendance. You will also collaborate with external partners and, when necessary, complete the relevant referrals to enforce attendance requirements or help secure additional support for the family.

The ideal candidate will have experience in education, social work, or a related field, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. You should be able to build relationships with children, families, and colleagues, and be confident in handling sensitive issues with empathy and professionalism. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation would be beneficial.
