Do you want a job where you make a difference to the lives of children and young people?

Do you want to be inspired on a daily basis by your work?

Are you passionate about inclusion and committed to meeting the needs of all children?

Do you care passionately about the safety of others in a school community?

Are you meticulous in following policies and practices to ensure safeguarding procedures will be robust?

It is a very exciting time to join Beacon Academy, which in September moves into a brand new multi-million pound building. The building is handed over to us next month and staff will have the opportunity to work in that new building with the most up to date facilities from September.

The academy is part of Wellspring Academy Trust which was recently awarded the title of Multi Academy Trust of the year. The Trust and school have a reputation for having a relational approach to education whilst also having high standards and expectations. The values of the Trust are matched by the school. ‘We make a difference’ If you have the same philosophy, this may be the job for you.

Details of Wellspring Academy Trust can be found at: https://wellspringacademytrust.co.uk/

The academy offers an exciting opportunity for a dedicated, experienced and enthusiastic person to join our team at Beacon Academy as an Educational Welfare Officer as part of a wider attendance improvement team. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider attendance team and the new pastoral leadership team to create new systems and processes to improve attendance levels at the Academy.

The role will involve meeting and greeting in the morning, dealing with late students, working with the admin team to review daily attendance, conducting home visits, holding meetings with parents and students and, when required, preparing paperwork for legal attendance processes.

It would be expected that the successful applicant will already have some experience in a school environment, have some administration experience and preferably, an understanding of school attendance systems.

You will be well supported by the existing attendance team, previous post holder who remains in school and the new SLT member overseeing this area of school development.

We are a small school and so it is possible to develop strong relationships. To support this we are introducing a new coaching group approach for staff and students in September. Our students are enthusiastic and enjoy interactive lessons from passionate teachers, they respond well to strong trusting relationships with staff. Having recently appointed new leaders at the academy, Beacon Academy has a renewed focus on student development, both academically and in personal growth. We are about to embark on new and innovative strategies in school so this would be an exciting time to join the team.

If you are as excited by this challenge as we are and you think this might be the role for you, please apply, having taken note of the attachments, by Wednesday 20th August 2025 at 9am.

Interviews for successfully shortlisted candidates are likely to be undertaken on Wednesday 27th August.

Beacon Academy opened on 1 September 2017 as part of the Wellspring Academy Trust. We are an exciting, expanding, inclusive and dynamic secondary academy which places the student at the heart of our provision.

Our distinctive ethos of ‘Human Scale Education’ sets us apart from other schools. At Beacon Academy your child will be known as an individual, supported and provided with opportunities to achieve academically and to develop as a young person.

Within our distinctive ethos we provide your child with opportunities, interventions and watch them thrive. We will continue to build upon solid foundations as an academy rated ‘Good’ by OFSTED. Regional champions in sports, poetry, photography and performing arts are just some examples of how your child will develop those crucial ‘soft skills’ needed to flourish in an ever changing world.

Parents are choosing Beacon Academy with the knowledge that not only is their child known as an individual and supported but academic progress is also at the heart of our provision.

Ultimately our students will leave as fully rounded young people, who in addition to their qualifications and references can present portfolios evidencing wider skills. This can range from building a rocket car to being an award winning member of a stage crew. Beacon Academy students, like the school itself, will have a Unique Selling point which makes them stand out from the crowd.
