Educational Psychologist job summary

This is an exciting new role within Abbot’s Lea School, reporting to the Head of Care and
Safeguarding.

We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced and motivated Educational Psychologist to lead a newly appointed team of therapists in ensuring therapeutic support is embedded within our teaching and students receive the therapeutic interventions they need to thrive.

Line managing a Psychotherapist, Speech and Language Therapist and Occupational Therapist your team will work together to ensure students receive the support they need to prepare them for learning.

We are committed to the application of psychological principles, theories and skills, and the
dissemination of research findings to improve outcomes for children and young people, aged 3 to 19. We believe families and children are experts on their own experiences; we seek to understand their perspectives and place them at the heart of our work.

You will need to be an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and have a sound knowledge about current practice in Educational Psychology and legislation regarding special educational needs.

You will be joining a team of reflective practitioners who value professional development and strong peer support to ensure that we consistently develop and maintain skills and knowledge. As a member of the team, you will be well supported through regular supervision, opportunities to develop areas of interest and collaborative working with colleagues.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to bring your knowledge, experience, enthusiasm and initiative to apply psychology within a specialist school setting. You will have the opportunity to assess and support students on their journey through the school and witness their growth and development first hand.
