Educational Teaching Assistant job summary

This role is 31.5 hours per week, term time plus 1 day for whole school training. Working hours are Monday and Friday, 8.45am-3.15pm, and Tuesday - Thursday 8.45am-3.45pm.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, highly motivated and passionate about supporting learning and building positive relationships with children with a range of needs, and have the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience to do so.

You will work under the guidance of our SENDCo and teaching staff to implement and oversee agreed learning activities with individual and small groups of students, in or out of the classroom. This may involve assisting in the planning, preparation and delivery of the learning activities, as well as monitoring students, assessing, recording and reporting on achievement, progress and development, under the direction of the class teacher.

You will need to be able to work collaboratively and flexibly and build good relationships with staff and key parents, demonstrating a respectful and caring attitude towards everyone in school.

Experience of working with children in a school environment and having the appropriate literacy and numeracy skills to support students are essential. Any experience of supporting students with emotional and social needs would be an advantage.

This role is ideal for those wanting to further their career in education and who have a desire to secure the best outcomes for our young people with SEND.

All SEND ETA staff have the opportunity to engage in CACHE qualifications. CACHE qualifications are awarded by the Council for Awards in Care, Health and Education for those working in the education sectors.

Qualifications include, for example, Improving the Support of Students with Dyslexia or Understanding Autism.

All CACHE courses lead to a nationally recognised Ofqual regulated qualification and are accredited on the Regulated Qualifications Framework.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our College. In turn, we are looking for a candidate committed to playing a part in transforming the lives of our young people.

What we can offer you:

At All Saints Catholic College, we aim to create a happy workplace culture through promoting a healthy work/life balance. We do that by providing a package of flexible employee benefits, including:

  • An attractive pension scheme for both Teaching and Support staff.
  • A high-quality wellbeing package including medical cover, counselling, physiotherapy, fast track medical cover, care service and a 24 hour GP-helpline.
  • Care First Advice - a 24/7 information and counselling service.
  • We are part of the Cycle to Work scheme. Tax free bikes and safety equipment can be payable by payroll deduction through a partnership with Cyclescheme.
  • Free parking

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals who are able to work as part of the whole staff team, and who will support and uphold the Catholic ethos and practices of the school.

All Saints is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Therefore, we expect all workers, volunteers and employees to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including online searches and a satisfactory Enhanced Criminal Record with Barred List check through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

It is an offence to apply for the role if an applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children (where the role involves this type of regulated activity).

A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.

Commitment to safeguarding

At All Saints Catholic College the highest level of safeguarding is practised in every aspect to ensure all students and staff feel safe. This enables our community to be able to thrive in a supportive environment within the College and to be able to raise any concerns with confidence of appropriate action.
