Are you passionate about helping children thrive emotionally and developing innovative, hands‑on projects? Imagine a role where you provide vital emotional support and lead an engaging animal care initiative in our beautiful herb garden. This unique opportunity is full of learning and heart!

About the Role

You will split your time between:

  • Delivering tailored 1:1 and small-group emotional literacy sessions to help children understand and manage emotions, build self-esteem, and strengthen social skills.
  • Coordinating our animal husbandry provision, introducing and maintaining a small selection of animals and creating opportunities for children to learn life‑skills through caring for them.

To support emotional work effectively, you’ll have release time from class built into your timetable for intervention delivery.  You’ll also drive project development in the herb garden, managing welfare, risk assessments, helping sustain the animal provision long term.

Why This Role is Exciting

  • Double impact: support vulnerable children emotionally and lead a hands‑on initiative that fosters responsibility and connection.
  • Be part of a creative, caring, and collaborative environment that values staff wellness and innovation.
  • Access quality training and supervision, with support to complete ELSA certification and coaching in developing the provision.
  • See children flourish in confidence and skills—both in emotional wellbeing and caring for animals.

What We’re Looking For

  • A current teaching assistant with experience in primary settings and a compassionate, patient attitude.
  • Enthusiasm for emotional literacy support; and be trained shortly after appointment.
  • Interest or experience in animal care, gardening, or outdoor learning provision.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, ability to manage wellbeing projects and maintain confidentiality.
