Queen Katharine Academy is a rapidly expanding Academy in Peterborough. We are looking to appoint a qualified Emotional Literacy Support Assistant ( ELSA ) who wants to make a difference to our students and join our enthusiastic, hard-working and committed Special Educational Needs and Disabilities team.
Queen Katharine Academy is part of the Thomas Deacon Academy Trust and we are dedicated to being an inclusive centre of educational excellence. The needs of all learners are at the heart of all we do and the ELSA role is an intrinsic part of this.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Establishing supportive, caring and secure relationships with learners, and to be available to offer individual support and someone for a learner to talk to.
- Develop knowledge of a range of learning and behavioural support needs and to plan, devise and implement appropriate programmes to help develop learners’ emotional literacy skills and emotional wellbeing.
- Ensuring that all records and notes are kept up to date, using the Assess Plan Do Review process
- Contributing to the annual review process for students with EHCPs
The department is well resourced and includes fantastic practitioners. We are looking to appoint a colleague who shares our vision and determination to help every student achieve their potential.
The successful candidate must:
· Have ELSA accreditation and registration
- A sense of humour.
- Flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team
- Level 2 qualifications in Maths/numeracy and English/literacy or able to demonstrate competency in literacy and numeracy equivalent to level 2.
- Experience of supporting teaching and learning in a formal setting.
- Experience of working with children who have SEMH difficulties.
The ability to establish mutually respectful and supportive relationships with our students is essential to this role.
