What skills and experience we're looking for
Spring Lane School is seeking two Engagement and Welfare Mentor roles to assist our attendance and safeguarding outreach, for pupils struggling to access their secondary provision.
Successful candidates will be communicative and driven in their approach, to persistently develop good relationships with families and pupils that are demonstrating a very poor attendance profile in the school. The postholder will use relationships as a foundation to develop softer learning experiences, academics and look for opportunities to reintegrate pupils back into school over a period of positive working.
Postholders will demonstrate excellent knowledge of safeguarding practice, attendance strategies and the ability to engage hard to reach young people in the community and in school, through appropriate interventions.
Spring Lane School is the Secondary PRU service for Bury, educating pupils that have been referred for alternative to mainstream education, or have been permanently excluded from mainstream secondary. We have a number of SEMH and Pupil Premium pupils, along with those under Child Protection or are part of the Looked After Team.
The roles are for a fixed term, until 31stMarch 2024 with a view to the post becoming permanent, whilst we continue to work against the Covid impact and recovery agenda.
Candidates will undergo safeguarding and barring checks, as well as a wider 'search engine' search as part of the safe recruitment process.
