Further details about the role

This is a wonderful opportunity to teach engineering to KS4/5 students in the first ‘sleeve’ model of UTC in the UK. We have a clear vision for a curriculum, facilitated by working directly with local industry, providing the kind of experience that inspires young people to follow a career in engineering. We will also consider applications from DT specialists and there is a potential leadership opportunity (remunerated) as a raising standards leader for a suitably qualified candidate.

It's a crucial time for the engineering and manufacturing sector in Britain. At ACS, we believe that schools play a vital role in equipping young people to be appropriately skilled and experienced; ready to make a worthwhile contribution to the local workforce. We intend to employ an excellent practitioner who will help us to shape the future of the curriculum and learning environment at the Engineering Centre.

You’ll work alongside the new head of department and existing team to:

  • Devise/implement a bold and creative new curriculum that reflects the needs of local employers
  • Actively work with local industry to engage and inspire students
  • Equip young people to be appropriately skilled, enquiring and independent thinkers
  • Create an engineering experience that is rich, diverse and enticing for students and colleagues.

So, if you have a passion for engineering and like to be creative and innovative in the way you teach, we’d love to hear from you. We welcome applications from candidates with experience in any engineering background and especially those with programmable systems/electronics and/or a mechanical engineering background.
