Engineering Technician job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Engineering Technician to join our dynamic Engineering Faculty. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for hands-on technical work and a commitment to supporting teaching and learning in a practical environment.
As part of our forward-thinking Engineering team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our workshops and laboratories are safe, well-equipped, and ready for students to explore real-world engineering. You’ll prepare and maintain equipment, assist in demonstrations, and help students safely carry out practical work.
What you’ll do:-
Prepare, maintain and repair engineering equipment, tools and materials.

Support teachers and students during practical lessons and assessments.

Install, test, and calibrate machinery and equipment.

Provide technical advice and safety guidance to students.

Ensure all areas and resources meet high standards of safety and efficiency.

Contribute to extra-curricular activities, projects and technical challenges.
You’ll have experience working in an engineering environment and bring solid practical skills such as turning, bench work, and general maintenance. You’ll be organised, proactive and a true team player — someone who enjoys working with young people and supporting their progress.
Essential skills and experience:

Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).

Hands-on experience in using and maintaining engineering equipment.

Strong IT skills and confidence with new technology.

Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Desirable:
-
Experience working in an educational setting.
-
Higher-level (Level 4+) qualification or specialist training.
-
Willingness to undertake First Aid or Fire Marshal training.
