Stormont House School is an unusual and widely-respected special school whose pupils achieve up to GCSE/BTEC levels at age 16. Most progress into our innovative Sixth Form where they ‘are very well prepared for the next stage of their education’ (Ofsted, 2018). We are recruiting for a subject leader in English as the previous postholder is now our Deputy Head for Teaching & Learning. Students ‘make strong progress in English’ (Ofsted, 2018), achieving GCSE, Step Up and functional skills qualifications as part of their ‘excellent’ outcomes by Year 12. We have a terrific mixture of primary, secondary and FE-trained teachers working closely together to achieve that. Ofsted reported ‘the school’s training programme for staff is highly effective and has ensured that teaching is of consistently high quality across year groups and subjects’.
