Birchwood is an innovative and modern 8FE comprehensive converter Academy with outstanding facilities. We are a ‘Great’ school in the making and were judged to be a good school with outstanding features by Ofsted (June 2019). We are financially secure with a growing roll and there is an energy and vibrancy about our determination to continually improve alongside our commitment to non-selective, mixed education for local children.

We are looking to appoint a full-time English Teacher; we welcome applications from NQTs. The English Faculty is otherwise fully staffed and well-led with improving GCSE and A-Level results.

Birchwood High School - Bishop's Stortford Birchwood is an over-subscribed, genuinely comprehensive 11-18 Converter Academy with impressive facilities and results beginning to tip into the "outstanding" category. The majority of our Year 11 students stay on into our Sixth Form, 80% of whom then attend University.
