What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a resilient and dynamic teacher who can inspire young people and support them to thrive. You should be able to develop and support the needs of the whole child and be committed to enabling all young people to achieve their potential. You must demonstrate tenacity coupled with experience of teaching KS3 – KS4 English. You should have QTS and a track record as a consistently good/outstanding practitioner.

This position is not suitable for ECT.

Qualifications and Professional Development

  • Qualified Teacher status
  • Further qualifications appropriate to the post
  • Recent relevant in-service training in current education practice
  • Evidence of further professional training or development
  • Evidence of a sound awareness of safeguarding responsibilities for teachers

Experience

  • Evidence of having worked within an environment that safeguards children
  • Successful appropriate experience of teaching within KS3 and KS4
  • Recent experience in a mainstream or special school
  • Experience of teaching English at a good or outstanding level
  • Experience/willingness to teach across a range of National Curriculum subjects in liaison with the relevant Head of Centre other curriculum areas
  • Experience of teaching or supporting young people with SEND and/or SEMH

Skills & Abilities

  • High level of written and oral communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good inter-personal skills
  • Ability to develop the speaking and listening of others.
  • Ability to relate effectively to young people, staff, parents, and other stakeholders

  • Ability to teach good and/or outstanding lessons
