What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a Sixth Form Teacher of English to join our team in January 2024. This will be a temporary position in the first instance, through to August 31st 2024, we can accommodate both full time or part time hours for this role. At Marine Academy we deliver a knowledge-rich curriculum that is cohesive, cumulative and highly sequenced. The curriculum is academic, rigorous and challenging. It has been designed with long-term memory in mind; students’ knowledge, skills and understanding are cemented by frequent and systematic revisiting. Early applications will be considered before deadline. This post is suitable for ECTs. You will need to have the ability to teach Literature and preferably Media Studies at KS5. There will also be some small group KS3 literacy work for you to oversee as well. Subject specialism essential.

As a teacher at Marine Academy your time will be highly valued. You will not be expected to mark homework- this is already planned and set for you. You will not be expected to attend pointless meetings- our meetings have specific foci, and only happen on a Monday. You will not be routinely expected to handwrite feedback to students. Your lessons will not be disrupted by poor behaviour, our system will remove students who cannot follow our rules so that you can get on with teaching. Revisiting.
