TLR available for the right candidate

English Teacher with possible TLR job summary

We are looking for an experienced English teacher to join our highly motivated and capable English Department. Depending on the strengths and career aspirations of the candidate, we are looking to develop the successful candidate into an exceptional leader. There is a TLR available for the right candidate.

We are proud of our ambitious seven-year English curriculum map; the skills and knowledge students learn at KS3 and KS4 prepare them for the challenge of A Level English Literature, a popular choice for our Sixth Form students. At Ark Alexandra, we follow the English Mastery programme at Key Stage 3. Our students study challenging literary heritage texts alongside a structured grammar and Reading for Pleasure programme including Accelerated Reader. At Key Stage 4, students follow the AQA syllabus for English Language and English Literature.

The English department is supported by the Ark Network English Advisor who, along with the Head of Department coaches and co-plans with teachers. Support and professional development are a priority at our academy. We invest in our teachers by providing regular coaching, career planning and weekly training sessions. We have an “open door” lesson policy which ensures you receive extensive support, and we promote peer-to-peer sharing of practice, all designed to help you be the best teacher you can be.

We also have the benefit of being part of Ark, an international charity and one of the UK’s most successful multi-academy trusts, with a network of 38 schools across the UK all sharing best practice and great ideas. Working for Ark you will be paid on a highest teachers’ pay scale nationally and be entitled to twice the number of training days as standard, all designed to meet the needs of our schools and our people.

You will also have access to diverse career opportunities meaning you can carve out your own successful career in education, choosing the direction you want to take your career. We take the well-being of our staff seriously, as we recognise that education can be a challenging profession. We offer benefits such as a subsidised gym membership, Healthcare Cashplan, Cycle to Work scheme, subsidised eye tests and Employee Assistance Programme. Or if you prefer retail therapy, shopping discounts (online and in-store) via instant vouchers or reloadable gift cards from the Ark Rewards scheme.

As the ideal candidate you will be:
· Experienced in teaching K3-5
· Passionate about and an expert in English Language and Literature
· Ambitious to be the best role model to other teachers and aspire to lead
· Flexible, enthusiastic, well organised and demonstrate strong behaviour management
· Committed to raising attainment in a challenging classroom environment
· Resilient and have an unwavering determination to work with students of all abilities
· Committed to continually improving their own classroom practice
