English Teacher with the ability to teach a second subject job summary
The Management Committee are looking to appoint an inspirational Secondary Teacher with the ability to teach English to work with our team of outstanding teachers at Wey Valley College. The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge but possess the flexibility to teach other subjects and an understanding of Special Education, Mainstream Education and / or Pupil Referral Units. RVC is a 5-16 Pupil Referral Unit and we are seeking to appoint either a full or part time Secondary Teacher. The successful candidate will be:
• Passionate about inclusion and making sure all students gain an inspirational education.
• An outstanding classroom practitioner with high expectations of students’ achievement and behaviour who is committed to providing high quality learning for all young people.
• Able to maintain and drive forward outstanding standards whilst meeting the needs of a very vulnerable group of students.
• An excellent communicator, able to work inclusively with student, staff, parents, Management Committee and other stakeholders.
• Committed to working collaboratively as part of a team.
• Positive, honest, open and responsive to change with a good sense of humour.

WVC currently forms part of a Federation of schools which include Reigate Valley College and the Fordway Centre and will be converting to a Multi Academy Trust by summer of 2021 under the Inclusive Education Trust (IET).
If you are appointed prior to MAT conversion you will be employed by Surrey County Council and TUPE transferred to the IET. If you are appointed after conversion your employer will be the IET.

Wey Valley College (WVC) is a 5 – 16 Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) based in Guildford, Surrey. WVC specialises providing for students who have been permanently excluded from mainstream school or met the threshold permanent exclusion. We work closely with our Mainstream School partners to support early intervention so as avoid being and therefore try stigma of this when they leave school. Many social, emotional mental health difficulties (SEMH), although there are may also more complex needs. Our staff ratio is high at all Key Stages ensure that receive excellent academic pastoral support. WVC is part of a Federation schools, linked Reigate Fordway Centre.
