What skills and experience we're looking for

The Quality First Education (Q1E) Trust is seeking an excellent teacher for September 2024 who loves sport and wants to inspire pupils at Belleville Wix Academy (BWA) to take part in a wide range of sporting activities. We have great sports facilities onsite and benefit from access to a wide range of resources nearby.

Pupils at BWA participate in two hours of PE a week, taught by specialist teachers, and can access additional clubs before and after school. We want someone who is going to continue to develop and promote our sports provision.

At Belleville Wix Academy we have over 300 pupils, a fantastic staff team and a supportive school community. We offer a high quality curriculum, and specialist teachers are employed to teach PE, art, computing, music and French, with excellent resources. We strive to meet the needs of all our children – doing ‘Whatever It Takes’ to help children fulfil their potential.

Our well maintained site is situated between vibrant Battersea and the open space ofClapham Common, with excellent transport links. Our proximity to Clapham Junction station gives us easy access to central London and across the south of England.

At Q1E, we believe that “the quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers” (McKinsey 2007). The recruitment, retention and development of high quality teachers is our highest priority.

Staff wellbeing is very important to us. We provide clear structures, excellent resources and outstanding professional development for our staff. We are an outward facing trust and believe in learning from the best schools and systems - you will have lots of opportunity to watch outstanding practice and get involved in wider projects across our dynamic Trust.

We offer a range of staff benefits which include: Teachers’ Pension Scheme; free coffee and tea; free on-site parking; interest free ‘travel to work loan scheme’ and Cycle-to Work Scheme. Please see below for more information about our school.

What the school offers its staff

Belleville Wix Academy is an ambitious, vibrant and supportive place to work. It would be wonderful to be able to show you around.

Our school has a unique bi-cultural ethos. We share our site with Ecole de Wix, a French primary school, and three streams are offered on site: an English stream, a French stream and a joint bilingual stream provision. We are very proud of our bi-cultural community however you do not need to speak French to work at our school (most of our staff do not).

Ofsted say:

  • Pupils enjoy coming to school.
  • Leaders and staff are determined to ensure every pupil is provided with the best education possible.
  • An outstanding start in the early years prepares children exceptionally well.
  • Provision for reading and mathematics is exceptionally strong.
  • Staff across the trust’s four schools work together to plan their teaching. This sharing of expertise and resources is of much benefit to pupils and keeps staff workload manageable.

We are in a vibrant area of south London with excellent transport links. Our proximity to Clapham Junction gives us easy access to central London and out across the south of England.

Teachers benefit from a supportive, developmental environment with plenty of opportunities for career growth. We have a well developed, outstanding curriculum with a full set of units and lesson plans. Lessons are reviewed during joint planning sessions to ensure all teachers feel well prepared and well supported. We have strong systems in place to help children achieve, so learning behaviour is excellent here. We provide amazing enrichment opportunities including visits, trips and clubs. We have a committed staff team, supportive parents and carers, and most importantly, truly incredible children!

Belleville Wix Academy is part of Quality First Education (Q1E), a successful Multi-Academy Trust with four primary schools on five sites across south London. This is an exciting time for us and we want the best people to join us as we grow further.
