Exam Invigilator job summary
Our Lady and All Saints Catholic Multi Academy Company (“the MAC”) was formed in April 2021 and currently comprises of 12 Catholic Primary Schools and 2 Catholic Secondary Schools across the Birmingham, Solihull, and Warwickshire areas.
John Henry Newman Catholic College is an oversubscribed and high performing 11-19 College.
The College serves an area of high economic deprivation and the learning community of governors, staff and students thrives on the opportunity to truly make a positive difference to the young people we serve.
We seek to appoint enthusiastic and motivated individuals for exam invigilation for external exams.
This is for exams throughout the year but particularly in the Summer Term. In addition to invigilation the role may involve reading or acting as a scribe for students with access arrangements. No previous experience is necessary. Full training will be given.
The following outline is not intended as a list of tasks, but gives an overall range of duties and responsibilities which reflects the position.
The Exam Invigilator will provide support to the Exams Officer with the day to day operation of examination venues.
Duties are varied but will broadly include:-
assisting with setting-up examination venues by laying out stationery, equipment and examination papers in accordance with strict procedures;
assisting candidates prior to the start of examinations by directing them to their seats and advising them about possessions permitted in examination venues;
offering advice and guidance to unregistered candidates without allocated seats;
ensuring that candidates do not talk once inside examination venues;
invigilating during examinations, dealing with queries raised by candidates and dealing with examination irregularities in accordance with strict procedure;
checking attendance during examinations;
recording details of late arrivals and early leavers and collecting scripts from early leavers;
escorting candidates from venues during the examinations as required, and supervising candidates whilst outside examination venues;
reading or acting as a scribe for students with access arrangements.
collecting and collating scripts at the end of the examination in accordance with strict procedures;
assisting with the preparation of script envelopes;
supervising candidates leaving examination venues, ensuring that candidates do not remove equipment or stationery from the venue without authorisation and ensuring that candidates leave venues in an orderly and quiet manner.
assisting with the packing of examination papers, stationery and equipment prior to the examinations and the delivery to and from venues as appropriate;
assisting with the preparation of seating plans;
