Examinations Officer job summary
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to be part of an exceptional growing comprehensive school. As a member of The Swan’s team, you will help to build the foundations of an outstanding school from the ground up.
About our school
The Swan School is Oxford's newest state secondary school and is growing rapidly since it opened in 2019. It provides a uniquely challenging and structured experience in a caring and disciplined environment. You will be joining a dedicated and enthusiastic staff, who work together to provide the best education for our students.
About this role
You will be working closely with our Data Manager and Senior Leaders to ensure that all examinations (internal and external) are managed and administered effectively to support the main aims and priorities of the school. You will also assist in producing and checking data reports for SLT, Faculty Leaders and House Leaders for whole-school data tracking and informing interventions for students.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in setting up the examinations process in a new school. As a new school, next year will be the first in which large groups of students will be taking external examinations. The school has already been set up as an examination centre and this year we had small groups of students sit their A-levels and home-language GCSEs here. However, there is a real opportunity to build on this foundation and implement your ideas about how to make this part of the school as effective as possible.
You will be working for 39 weeks of the year - ie term time plus 2 weeks in the summer holiday, particularly around GCSE results day and the end of the summer holidays. This is ideally a full time role (37 hours per week), though part time applications would be considered for the right candidate.
Why work at the Swan
- - Annual pay increases for support staff (in line with grade boundaries)
- - A Defined Benefit Pension Scheme (LGPS) with favourable terms for all employees
- - Moving from the public sector? Those without a break in service can be reassured that RLT will recognise their continuous service

- - Enhanced sick pay, maternity leave, paternity leave, and parental leave
- - Cycle to work scheme
- - Funded eye test and glasses for DSE users (subject to T/Cs)
Applications will be reviewed as they are submitted and we reserve the right to withdraw the advert before the closing date if suitable candidates have been found. Interviews are likely to be held during week commencing 9th October.
