What skills and experience we're looking for
Proven experience as an Exams Officer, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the examination process.
Proven experience working in a secondary school or similar educational setting, where understanding the school’s academic environment and student needs is crucial.
Hands on experience with school management systems such as SIMS, Arbor or similar platforms for setting up and managing exam data, entries, results and performance indicators.
Experience in maintaining and managing accurate data records, including handling sensitive information and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
Experience in working with examination boards, awarding bodies and regulatory bodies including managing submissions and understanding their requirements.
Comprehensive understanding of JCQ (Joint Council for Qualifications) guidelines and other relevant regulatory bodies’ regulations and guidelines for the management of exams.
Thorough understanding of the examination cycle, including planning, administration and post-examination services such as result processing and appeals.

The Exams and Cover Officer will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive exams service which is pupil focused in accordance with SGHS exam policies and the regulations set by awarding bodies for both public exams (including GCSE and A-Levels) and internal examinations. This dynamic role requires a detail-oriented, highly organised, and communicative individual who can collaborate effectively with all stakeholders involved in the exams process. The Exams Officer will play a pivotal role in organising and managing SGHS exams, ensuring a smooth and stressfree experience for students and teaching staff. The successful candidate must be adaptable, capable of creative problem-solving, and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
