Governors welcome applicants who are available to start in September 2025
Greenbank Primary School with Howard Street Nursery School is an exciting, unique Soft Federation, with both schools sited in a diverse and vibrant learning community – and each judged to be Good schools in their recent OFSTED inspections.
Each school has their own dedicated Governing Board – and they are working together, strategically, to appoint a skilled, dynamic and passionate Headteacher. They are looking for candidates who will recognise and value the work which has already been undertaken to create this successful Federation, with shared visions and imaginative, creative curricula.
The successful candidate will have experience of leading and developing schools, and will be able to exhibit their ability to work with both schools, the local community and the local schools’ collaborative.
The two schools, together, have been involved in some exciting, wider initiatives – mainly based around their recognition of the value of learning outside the classroom – supporting children to recognise and manage risk. The successful candidate will exhibit a commitment to continue this valued aspect of the curricular and extra-curricular work, which is embedded in the character and values of the two schools.
The Governing Boards welcome applications from experienced Headteachers, Acting Headteachers and Deputy Headteachers with experience of similar schools and contexts.
The Governing Boards will appoint someone who:
- Is an exceptional leader with high expectations of academic and personal achievement for all members of the school community
- Is able to further support a learning community in which children flourish emotionally, socially and academically; having fun while doing so.
- Is able to demonstrate knowledge, skills and experience of both Primary stages and with a particular interest in Early Years (with both a Maintained Nursery School and EYFS at Greenbank being key parts of the Federation)
- Shows a clear commitment to consolidating and building upon the successes of the schools, at all levels, and can articulate a clear strategic vision to move the schools forward in the future; one which recognises and supports the high number of children with SEND, and Early Help involvement.
What the school offers its staff
We can offer:
- Welcoming and inclusive schools with friendly, well behaved children who have a positive approach to learning, and supportive parents
- Hard working, enthusiastic and committed staff who are forward thinking in their approach; showing a clear determination to enable pupils to become lifelong, ambitious learners
- Committed and knowledgeable Governing Boards who are keen to support the schools to build upon the excellent work already undertaken and who are willing to work alongside the successful candidate to achieve the very best for the children and families of Greenbank Primary School and Howard Street Nursery School
