What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking a
passionate and ambitious SENDCo as we continue to
transform education. In September 2021 Twynham School and The
Grange School federated staffing structures enabling us to launch an
ambitious vision for our schools.
The SEND strategy across both schools is led by our Executive SENDCo who also
assumes the role of substantive SENDCo for Twynham School.
In order to cover maternity absence of our Executive SENDCo we are looking for a qualified SENDCo who, dependent on experience, will act as the SENDCo at Twynham School but may also seize a unique opportunity to continue to drive forward the SEND strategy across both schools. Alternatively, this may also represent an opportunity for a less experienced colleague to work solely within Twynham School gaining experience within a large, inclusive, 11-18 mixed comprehensive school. Job descriptions for both roles are available and colleagues should reference which role their application should be considered for.
We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:
- Take responsibility for SEND provision in our large and inclusive secondary school
- Co-ordinate and lead innovative and evidence-based provision for students who have identified special educational needs and disabilities.
- Ensure that SEND provision and the graduated approach is embedded in school life
- Progress beyond the role of a traditional SENDCo and lead SEND strategically across two schools (dependent on experience)
You are likely to be someone who:
- Is an inspirational and skilled classroom teacher and teacher of students with SEND
- Champions inclusion and is passionate about supporting young people with identified SEND
- Has a clear understanding of how young people with identified SEND can be supported to achieve in the mainstream classroom
- Is ambitious for whole school leadership and thrives in an aspirational culture
- Will embrace our highly supportive, professional approach to school improvement
What the school offers its staff
Twynham School and The Grange School can offer you:
- The chance to be a part of an exciting educational journey alongside highly regarding professionals
- The opportunity to work with exceptional colleagues and wonderful young people and their families
- An exceptional CPD offer from ECT through to preparation for senior and system leadership
- Strong and supportive leadership, who place value on learning beyond the classroom
- The opportunity to work within Twynham Learning; a progressive multi-academy trust
- The opportunity to live in one of the most beautiful areas of the South Coast
