EYFS Teacher job summary

FIXED TERM APPOINTMENT JANUARY 2022 UNTIL END OF JULY

A teaching vacancy has arisen in our school in the short term and we require a teacher for Year R (possibly with a small  number of Year 1 too).

To start in January until the end of August 2022.  We will restructure in September 2022 when we have more information about funding, maternity leave return, pupil numbers and staffing levels.

This will be a two day or a three day appointment and the successful candidate will need to be available at the beginning of the week due to the hours worked by the job share partner.

This will be paid on the teacher’s mainscale.

Our EYFS team is composed of four teachers and well supported by teaching assistants so it is vital that the person who is appointed works well as part of a team. They should be positive, calm and adaptable. Knowledge of Read Write Inc would be helpful, but not essential.

Our school has 277 pupils on role and is under the Local Authority. We have recently had our Ofsted inspection and we have been praised for our caring and supportive atmosphere.

Please contact Mrs Angie Foote, business manager or the headteacher of our school to discuss this post or if you would like to arrange to visit contact :   creechstmichael@educ.somerset.gov.uk or ring the school on 01823 442898.

Applications should be made on the Somerset County Council standard application form – not by c.v.

The staff are friendly and hard working. They work very effectively as a team and contribute enormously to the happy environment that we have. They plan a range of activities and learning experiences to suit the range of abilities and interests of the children. They strive to support each child to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

We are a church school and we enjoy good links with our local churches. A supportive and nurturing ethos is fundamental to our approach.

We are not far from Taunton itself, but set in delightful grounds. You would not know from looking at the front of the school, just how fortunate we are to enjoy lots of open space at the back. We have a wild area to take part in “forest school” activities and a “supergrounds” area where the children can explore and play. Our large field allows a variety of outdoor sports to take place. The local Pre-school with its outstanding inspection grade is on the same site.

We run a child care provision from the school, known as Smileys. This is both a breakfast club from 8.00 until 9.00 a.m. and an afterschool club from 3.30 until 5.30 p.m. Our pupils enjoy using this facility. We also offer a wide range of extra curricular activities depending on the time of year.

We have a strong tradition for our high standard of music and are increasingly promoting a variety of sporting opportunities that the children are taking up with enthusiasm.
