General Duties
The education and welfare of a designated class of pupils, in accordance with the requirements of Conditions of Employment of School Teachers, having due regard to the requirements of the:-
-National standards for Qualified Teachers
-EYFS Curriculum and Profile
-School’s aims, objectives, key priorities, core values and schemes of work
-Policies of the Governing Body
-To share in the corporate responsibility for the well-being and discipline of all pupils
Main Responsibilities
Develop and implement appropriate policies and practice in line with the Catholic ethos of the school
To ensure that the Foundation Stage profiles are completed throughout the Foundation Stage in accordance with the agreed timescales
Through reflective practice, provide a dynamic curriculum which values play,
exploration and inclusion.
To ensure that assessment data that provides information about attainment on entry, is completed at the end of each child’s first term Reception
To organise, manage and develop a resource based teaching/learning environment that provides opportunities for independent learning and the development of autonomy for all pupils in the group
To foster the growth of the whole child, spiritually, intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically
To set high standards of achievement and demonstrate excellent results and outcomes
Attend parental consultation sessions and keep parents informed about their child’s progress
To promote Equal Opportunities throughout all aspects of school life
To attend and contribute to all relevant staff development initiatives
To ensure that accurate, regular assessment (in accordance with school policy) is carried out and that assessments inform future planning
To be aware of the individual needs of the pupils and to match activities and situations to meet these needs
To work as a member of the staff team in ensuring the delivery of whole-school policies and to keep abreast of current developments and good practice in Primary Education
To support the ethos of the school and to contribute to the general well-being of all the members of the community: pupils, parents, colleagues, governors and all others involved
As a leader in our community, to set appropriate standards of dress, language and behaviour
Support parents to become competent and confident educators who are actively
involved in their child’s development
To respond to such reasonable requests as are made by the Headteacher of the school
In addition to the above you will:-
To organise an effective induction programme is in place for all children starting in the Early Years
To organise and ensure effective transition arrangements are in place for children transferring from Nursery to Reception / EYFS to Key Stage One
To be actively involved in the coordination of transition
Ensure that the planning is carried out in accordance with the agreed format
Liaise with the EYFS and Inclusion Manager to ensure that appropriate support is provided for SEN and EAL children throughout the Nursery
To contribute towards the relevant sections of the SEF
To actively participate in Performance Management
To liaise with external agencies and other schools over issues related to the Foundation Stage curriculum
To ensure that all the appropriate risk assessments are carried out for all schools visits in the Nursery
To attend any training needs identified by EYFS to aid in the role
Take overall responsibility for a class as designated by the Headteacher. This overall responsibility will include:
Assessing, recording and reporting on pupil’s development, progress and attainment keeping comprehensive records
Advise and encourage on all aspects of the curriculum areas in school and contact external providers where appropriate
Ensure that resources are organised
Order resources as appropriate through EYFS leader
Coordinate displays in the classroom and beyond
Keep Governors and Parents informed of the Curriculum areas and its developments
Ensure continuity and progression within the school
