Overview of the job

Kempston Academy recently joined The Chiltern Learning Trust in May 2022, an outstanding and progressive multi-academy trust in Luton and Bedfordshire with currently 15 schools.  The Trust and school work together in a very supportive and collaborative way, with high achievement for all as our shared responsibility. 

 Kempston Academy is a rapidly improving and growing secondary school in Kempston. We have 746 students in Years 7 – 13 and were rated GOOD by OFSTED in 2018.  We are very proud to serve the local community and our vision is to create a school that everyone is proud of, and one which inspires individuals,  enables success, and provides opportunities for all.  The school is going through an exciting time of growth and development. 

We are looking for someone to join us as a Facilities Assistant within our school to directly support and assist the Facilities Manager in all areas of the general maintenance, care and upkeep of the school’s buildings, grounds and facilities. Ideally, the ability to carry out electrical, plumbing, carpentry and other general repairs around the school site would be advantageous.

The role will include ensuring that the school site is maintained to a high standard at all times which will include undertaking opening and closing duties for the site. The work will include supporting with any set up within the school site and receiving/recording any deliveries as well as litter picking and supporting with general maintenance.

If you feel you have the right mix of good communicational skills, a general understanding of Health & Safety practices, competent in basic DIY, and can work as part of a team, then we would welcome an application from you. You need to have a flexible approach to working hours, high standards and a positive attitude.
