What skills and experience we're looking for
The Head Teacher and Governors wish to appoint a Facilities Manager for 37 hours a week.
The successful candidate will oversee the site team to ensure, maintenance and operation of buildings and all facilities are functioning optimally and safely.
Duties will include managing site team/ caretakers and cleaning staff over 2 sites.
They will be responsible for overseeing service level agreements with external suppliers and contractors, and compliance of health & safety.
A Facilities Manager requires a range of skills, including great attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with different levels of staff within the organisation. A Facilities Manager should be able to manage the company’s services within budget constraints and according to the level of expectation set by the company/organisation. A Facilities Manager will have various prerequisite skills and qualifications needed for duties including:
• Leadership skills to manage maintenance team and contractors
• Good verbal and communication skills
• Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation
• Negotiation skills for negotiating contracts and for managing projects
• The ability to set targets, deadlines and budgets
• Qualifications in health and safety or willing to complete training.
• Sound problem-solving skills and a willingness to be available after hours when required.

Brackenfield is an oversubscribed South Derbyshire special school for children from 3-16 years old. Over the last 4 years we have streamlined our offer to become a specialist school for pupils with communication and comprehension difficulties and we have a growing population of children with complex physical needs. All our pupils are significantly cognitively impaired operating developmentally between 0 – 6 years of age.
