Family Debt Liaison Officer job summary
As the Family Debt Liaison Officer, you will support the School Business Manager by liaising with families with overdue debt to establish manageable debt repayment programmes and therefore reduce the levels of debt. You will support access to education by identifying families in financial hardship and assisting them with applications for different forms of financial support, e.g. Free School Meals and the Hardship Fund.
You will have strong administrative skills and be highly organised. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and previous experience of having challenging conversations with the goal of mutually agreeable and achievable end result. Experience of debt collection within a public sector organisation is desirable but not essential
You will be confident with IT. Strong numeracy skills are needed but financial qualifications or experience are not essential.
The successful candidate will share our ambitions for our students, and be motivated to help our students and their families have the best experience of school.
This is initially a temporary, part time role, but there may be opportunities for the role to expand later as the school grows. The duration of the role is likely to be from February to May 2024. We can be flexible about the working pattern of hours for the right candidate. This role is term time only.
About the School
The Swan School is a free school which opened in September 2019 as part of the River Learning Trust (RLT). When fully subscribed it will have approximately 1200 students on the roll, of whom around 300 will be in the Sixth Form.
