We are looking to appoint a Family Liaison Officer to work within our new Specialist Provisions, working with some of our most vulnerable children and families; making a lasting difference to their lives.
Waltham Toll Bar Academy’s ‘Gatehouse’ opening in January will cater for up to 12 children from across North East Lincolnshire who have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Children in our Care who have difficulties accessing mainstream education.
In this role, you will provide support for families in crisis, prevent breakdown, meet need at the lowest level and prevent escalation to statutory services for those students accessing the Gatehouse and our wider provisions within the Academy.
As the Family Liaison Officer, you will work as part of a team within the provision and academy to support the attendance and safeguarding for families and pupils accessing the provision, adopting a whole family, strengths-based approach to reduce risk, increase resilience and improve outcomes for children who already face difficulties in accessing full time mainstream education.
It is crucial that the Family Liaison Officer creates a nurturing and empathic approach, prioritising child-centred relational approaches.
The successful candidate will hold ambitious expectations for all students with additional and special educational needs and disabilities and embed a culture where all can access the curriculum and learn effectively.
You will act as the Lead Professional for families, undertaking the Early Help Assessment and coordinating and delivering support, Team around the Child meetings and interventions for families and students.
What we are looking for:
We’re seeking a passionate, resilient, and skilled practitioner who is committed to making a real difference in the lives of children and families. You’ll thrive in fast-paced, emotionally complex situations and bring a calm, solution-focused approach to every challenge.
Lincolnshire Gateway Academy Trust are already working closely with Trauma Informed Schools UK to support the development of our vision, values and curriculum. It is essential the successful candidate champions our principles of trauma awareness and relational learning, building strong, trusting relationships with our children to create a safe learning environment.
An ability to be creative and adaptable in your approach is crucial. Experience of working with children across key stages is desirable. A commitment to ensuring the Specialist Provisions are fully inclusive and are part of the academy, is essential. Experience of working with children with additional needs, including those with SEMH, is vital.
The Family Liaison Officer will have significant impact upon the lives and opportunities experienced by the young people of North East Lincolnshire.
The successful candidate will work alongside the Principal, Vice Principal of Inclusion, SENDCO, staff team and supportive Trust, shaping the direction of travel of the new Specialist Provisions to re-engage students back in to education.
Our ethos is one of an uncompromising drive to achieve the highest standards of outcomes and behaviour in a safe environment, which encourages every student to experience an exciting and creative climate for learning.
We place a strong emphasis upon pastoral care and our Family Welfare Officer will share the determination to offer the very best to our students so that they can thrive personally and academically.
You will be given the unique opportunity to deliver 1:1 and group support to students who need that additional nurture and support to help them thrive.
If you are enthusiastic, passionate and want to provide earlier support to address the needs of children within their family networks, we want to hear from you.
Our offer to you…
A unique opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of students
A highly skilled team to work with and well-resourced provisions
A fantastic community of parents and students who deserve the best
