What skills and experience we're looking for
Good listening and verbal skills.
The ability to use solution focused therapy and strength-based practice when working with families.
Ability to relate to parents to make their own informed decisions.
Experience of working with children and families with multiple & complex needs.
Experience of assessing families in need.
Experience of partnership working with multi-agency partners.
Ability to work in a ‘child centred’ way and be outcome focussed.
Good interpersonal skills and effective written communication skills, including the ability to produce written reports to tight deadlines.
Good analytical skills and critical thinking (including understanding of risk and protective factors).
Commitment to supporting families with multiple and complex needs.
Ability to work independently, organise workload and manage a case load.
Ability to work with children and young people and their families in providing direct support, advice, individual and group work approaches as appropriate.
Commitment to safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Computer literate e.g. e-mail, word processing, use of database.

Further details about the role
The SEBD Outreach Service (SEBDOS) are a group
of professionals who work with schools, families and pupils who have Social, Emotional
and Mental Health Difficulties that make it hard for them to reach their potential
at school. The key aims for the Service are preventing exclusion and raising
achievement. SEBDOS is highly regarded and successful. We
work in partnership with other services and agencies; multi-disciplinary
working is well established and produces excellent outcomes for children and
families
We are looking for an experienced individual who will provide a family support link which will serve the needs of children experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties, either in school or at home and whose education is at risk. The role will involve working with children, young people and their families across all school phases.
SEBDOS is based at Littledown School and is part of the Specialist Education Trust.

Littledown School is a small (38 place) special school and (10 place) alternative provision for primary aged pupils (5-11yrs) with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Part of the school’s remit is to develop a continuum of provision and support for primary-aged pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties across the local authority.
