What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for someone who shares our values to join our committed team, working to ensure that we serve our children and communities to the best of our abilities. No day will be the same and you will work alongside a highly caring and compassionate team to support our most vulnerable families at Ellacombe. This role includes an element of school administration, including dealing with telephone and email queries, maintaining safeguarding procedures and all nursery administration such as Free School Meals and Pupil Premium applications.

Working alongside our existing administrator and family support team, you will also work closely with children and families to provide early intervention, support, and guidance. By building relationships with families and supporting them to raise attendance levels, you will be helping to remove barriers to learning and ensure every child, even the most vulnerable, can flourish. Due to the nature of this role, candidates would need to be available at the start and end of the school day.

Our ideal candidate will be a passionate and dynamic practitioner with previous experience of supporting families and communities to empower change. This role lends itself to someone who is highly motivated, with a wide range of administrative and interpersonal skills. You’ll be happy to work independently whilst following processes, as well as collaboratively as part of the wider Trust team and with external agencies. Our ideal candidate will be extremely organised with a keen eye for detail, who can be calm whilst prioritising their work and can demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

What the school offers its staff

Ellacombe, in the heart of Torquay, prides itself on offering high academic outcomes through an engaging and motivating curriculum. Our children are at the very core of everything we do, and a strong sense of family runs through every part of our community.

Our Trust is dedicated to building an authentic workforce, so if you are excited about this role but your past experience looks a little different to what we’ve identified, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may just be the perfect candidate!

We are looking for someone who is inspired by our Trust mission and can empower our children with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to flourish. We are proud that we are a single organisation with a shared responsibility for all children, and one where you will feel professionally nourished through our extensive development practice and strong wellbeing offer.

We can offer you:

  • The opportunity to make a profound difference to children’s lives
  • An impactful People Strategy that enables us to nurture, develop and support our colleagues so that they can provide the very best for our children
  • A culture that takes work-life balance extremely seriously for all its colleagues
  • The chance to work as part of a collective in a values-led school Trust, a single organisation.
  • High quality professional development and regular training to develop your knowledge and skills
  • A strong, proactive wellbeing network across the school Trust
  • The potential for future career development
  • Access to a 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme
  • Trust benefit schemes including Cycle and Tech schemes
  • Generous Local Government Pension Scheme
